Abstract
This is a case report of giant traumatic splenic pseudocyst which was evaluated and treated at
Capital Army Hospital recently.
The patient, 28 y/o Korean male, had a huge palpable mass on his left upper quadrant of
abdomen with several mild symptoms which had been developed following a blunt trauma on his
abdomen about 7 months prior to admission. Various studies & examinations suggested the mass
as a cyst on the pancreatic tail or spleen, and the exploratory laparotomy disclosed a 16¡¿20¡¿16§¯
sized, dark blood contained cyst originated from the splenic upper pole and a small one(3¡¿4, 5§¯)
from within the splenic parenchyme. The cyst contained spleen was excised out and the postoperative
course had been uneventful.
The case is presented in this paper with a brief review of literatures.
